It was two years ago today I received an email from an old friend entitled: Have you seen these?
In it he wrote, “Holy shit I can’t stop watching these!” and included links to the videos below. If you haven’t seen them yet, I highly recommend a look. If its been a while, I encourage a quick review… _
Giant, illustrated signage for the World Basketball Festival, August 12-15th at Madison Square Garden, NYC.
This summer, NIKE, Inc. and USA Basketball are planning to bring the world’s best basketball teams and top musical performers to New York City for the inaugural World Basketball Festival, a four-day celebration of the performance and culture of the game. Glorious artwork and outstanding typography. Get a closer look at some the illustrations on streetballblog.com.
Like fine wine aging in barrels hidden away in underground caves out in Napa Valley, California, the archived recordings of Karma Canon exist online, on hard drives and some even on tape. Eight years of improvisational sessions beginning in 2002 have been documented by Jay Caddle among many of his projects. The original unveiling of these Karma Canon sessions can be seen on freakoftheweek.com.
This Karma Canon Collection is my personal selection with 11 of my favorite, stand-out tracks from sessions taking place in 2002 and 2003 when Jay’s studio was located in the Astracade, Philadelphia on Ridge Avenue. More tracks from these sessions can be found at karmacanon.com or nightcapchronicles.com/karmacanon. Excellent background music for plugging in, zoning out and/or working away. Jay Caddle (bass, keys), Adrian Rosario (guitar), Michael Miller (guitar), Peter Schroeck (guitar) and Myself (drums).
Olde Richmond is a neighborhood within Fishtown, Philadelphia bounded on the East by the Delaware River, on the West by the East side of Trenton Avenue, on the North by the Conrail Railroad lines, and on the South along the River by the I-95 interchange and by the North Side of York Street from Aramingo Avenue westward.
This is a Portrait of Ol’ Richmond himself – founder, curator, overseer and guardian of the land.
